LIFE is way more PREDICTABLE than we THINK!
Life's Autobiographical: Part Made, Part in Making
I know the brow-raising on listening to the title "Life is Predictable" because we feel offensive these days if we are told we have made our lives however it is today - miserable, full of disappointments, void of relationships to put trust on, not being successful, or rarely joyous! "This" is so because it is such a heavy burden to take and such an easy thing to bestow upon others. By "this", I mean "responsibility" or "owning up".
Introspection is a real bad thing to go for because most often either we stand guilty in that or we simply evade it for the fear of the result. There are those who don't feel it necessary. Those are happy people whether because of ignorance of it, or simply because whatever they are doing is accidentally proving to be the right decision for them until now.
To explain myself, I need to journey with you. Look at anything that isn't right today, that is, from a relationship to job, write it down. Now, promise yourself to be as objective and distanced from this analysis as you can be. Look back from where it began, this part of your journey. What all you did .. the steps you took to make it a successful endeavour. You will observe either of the following:
1. You did nothing special to build or destroy but were just going with the flow.
2. You intentionally thought of good things to do but now, you know your view was too localised to see its impact.
3. You did random things you read or were told to do, i.e., you entirely relied on the advice of others.
4. You took decisions, and despite knowing that they were crucial and demanded more attention, you never did once stop to re-organise your latest inputs on the subject to re-think and may be re-model your previous decision.
5. You were victim of your own low self esteem, which told you "nothing can happen now".
Pick any of these that might be true for you, or state the one except these for yourself. The next step is to come to terms with this, and the real acceptance. Just take it like a puzzle to solve for somebody else. Now, sit with your favourite flavour of tea, and think whether all this that is YOU today isn't the result of the decisions you took once. Yes, you were naive, unguided, inexperienced, immature .... everything is true ... as much as this fact! Can you time travel and change any of those? May be not! ("may" because everything becomes possible today the next morning you say it is impossible ;) ).
The best that can be done now is what you need to do. For this to accomplish, don't go by that older teen-old self of your's. Of course, you have grown up, and your wishes and desires have changed or have taken a leap at least from that time. Sit down, this time, with another cup of your tea (only if it suits your health ;) ), and jot down your latest aims, the time period you would like them to be fulfilled (be a little generous with yourself, don't make it within 24 hours type), and then what all you would need to do to reach there. Just when you are done with it all, now go back to the title, "Life's Predictable". Is it not if things are done in this manner? I know it will be called an ideal method which can't be carried out always. I somehow don't agree because that is what we are trying to do when unaware too else why the disappointments? It isn't a difficult or daunting thing to do if made a natural way of life and thought process, but certainly is, if taken to be a task that has to be executed once in a while.
Close observation with time always makes a person aware that he is writing his autobiography all the time, some of which has been spent in the naive unwakeful years, and the other, if desired can be spent in making the way you want!
Preaching is the last thing that I intended to do, inspiring the first! Can't say how successfully I did achieve but would be glad if it made you even think for a moment, and elated, if it made you change something about you in coming times. It is so good to hear "what fun in living if everything is predictable". Well, it sounds nicer than it feels to live actually! In fact, sometimes I think how easily we have fooled ourselves by this that I couldn't find a single quote to put here on my blog post from google. All said, what we love to say: "Life is unpredictable. Eat your desert first!" You can only predict reactions to your own actions and decisions, and not what others surrounding you are doing, and about natural calamity hitting you, to leave all the scope for fun part!
Today morning I sketched a girl
turned out to be a careless one
no, not the sketch but the look of the girl.
I thought this was ME once!
Now, I see, observe, learn
I consciously decide my course
winding and rough it still gets
as no perfection I attained
but the fun of it is in walking
doing things as I would want to
Not leaving time and people to decide
Isn't it this, that shall define me?
Aimlessly I muse at times
especially when the rain touches
my piscean spirit deep
Nothing much I do
Not any longer pine for what went wrong
nor that it could be nice!
All I do at those moments
is expressing gratitude for what I now know
to make part of life to come
what it is meant to be!
