SOMEDAY

Hey Dear All,

This is my first post. Hence, I would like to begin with a brief introduction about myself. I am qualified English lecturer, an IELTS Trainer, an English teacher, an enthusiast who loves to explore, and experiment a lot with cooking. Well, did I mention the toughest job: Mom of two hyperactive kids aged 9 and 6 years.

This post is about that "Someday" that we all are waiting for from eternity. Yes, that "someday" when we will start going for walks, or, reading our long-time to-read list of books, or going on a trip with good old friends... and.. for moms... even when we will once again start working their career out. We are waiting for rain to pour on everything down, and just give us a blank page where we can write that "someday" story. It is that one consistent thought that never left us from school days until now. Postponing all our "inner desires" for a moment called "Someday," knowing so well from inside that this "Someday" needs an invitation, in fact a strong persuasion. It's like that best friend of ours who is showing to be too busy, although is dying to come down on invitation.

We manage time for everything that's important like kids, families, and other chores. So, here goes the first step: Make it important for you first. Prioritize and re-schedule your routine to fit your plan in. Then, as will happen most of the times, stop thinking about all the ways it's not going to work. You got to make it work just for yourself, and the later "Somedays" are guaranteed then. I too did that for myself when I thought of doing a PhD with two toddlers around, and a teaching job too! Everyday it seemed impossible until I sat down with myself to counsel that my "someday" has arrived. I successfully completed my research (of which I'll share papers and techniques in later posts) and was awarded the degree in 3 and half years time. Now, I am on my next "someday" journey of writing and publishing a book. I am already working on it, and won't let that "someday" elude now.

This post isn't about myself ... it's about us who keep thinking and waiting for "someday" in our lives to arrive ... for that moment when somebody will push you towards that ... don't wait ... you are going to make it happen ... So, plan that which you deserve to attain before "Someday" arrives ... Let's surprise ourselves ... There is no greater pleasure in life than making yourself happy with something that once you thought as unachievable.
All the best...

  7. Well we are sailing in the same boat... With a masters degree in biotechnology, and with an experience of teaching in a post grad college and later becoming the Head of the department for 6 years, with a B. Ed here I am with my 15 month old hyperactive toddler who just does not want his mom to do anything, even cooking.... I am waiting for that 'Someday' when I can just go to walk alone, have a hot cup of coffee sitting in the balcony alone, going to meet old friends alone..... List of alone is long.... But yes motherhood is the first priority for us alone..... Very very wonderful way of portraying the value of 'Someday'.

  9. Hi Suman... beautiful write up.Yes we have to decide someday for that 'someday' to actually come in our lives .someday we got to decide the priorities and let the more meaningful and important things take over from those trivial issues, here priorities may differ .The ultimate aim of achieving happiness n contentment through your passion is a total bliss...Thanks for reminding that someday ...keep writing..

  11. Very well written Suman. It's so convincing & pertinent in today's world where our bucket is full. It's time we prioritize & start working on it instead of waiting for "someday". Very inspiring!
